My 17 month old daughter does not have words. What could be wrong with her?

What did the evaluators ess? Some will say early intervention is best if there is something wrong . . . but otherwise, all children go at different paces with milestones. Some little ones will walk as early as 8 months . . . and others will walk at 16 months . .. not necessarily a delay . . . that's just the way it is. Same with talking. Some can speak in full sentences by 18 months or sooner . . . others much later. If you have concerns, a professional can help you better with what steps you should take if there are any concerns. But if she seems to be understanding a lot of what you say and those one vowel "words" seem to be consistant (like apple being "po" or whatever) then she is on her way (really listen to her to monitor her speech development) . . . just taking her own sweet time . . . she'll catch up and be a chatterbox like the rest of 'em!!
