What should I wear to a neon sweet sixteen?

My friend is having a neon club-themed party tomorrow, and I don't know what I should wear. I do know that I have to wear something neon, but it doesn't really give a guideline, like 80's kind of clothing or something more modern. She was saying that she bought some neon skinny jeans and some neon vans to wear. I'm stoked to dress up, and I like to get creative, but I don't want to go overboard, and show up overdone. So, any suggestions? Thanks!
